About the Author
Hello! My name is Jacob, and I hail from the land (or state) of 10,000 lakes in the United States. Back in September, I took a chance on myself and moved halfway across the globe to Greece, and I am studying for my master’s degree in Strategic Communications and Public Relations.
Never thought I would end up back in school, but going back to school in Athens, Greece, has been otherworldly. But here I am, back at school to expand my horizons while challenging myself. Living in a different country definitely has its perks but also challenges. Every day is a new opportunity for me to learn, grow, and expand my comfort zone.
Living in a melting pot of cultures like Athens makes me reminisce about my experience at my undergraduate university. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN. Augsburg is known for its diverse student body and its location in the culturally rich and diverse Cedar Riverside neighborhood. Being surrounded by the great residents of this neighborhood, with diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences, has immensely shaped who I am as a person.
These experiences have inspired me to become an advocate for diversity and inclusion in any environment. I recognize the privilege I have had my whole life and aim to use it to uplift others and promote equitable representation not just in the marketing industry, but in any industry. We all belong. We all belong, and all have a seat at the table.
Through this blog, I hope to show you why these issues matter and why they should matter to everyone. Follow along as we change minds and perspectives, helping build a safer and more inclusive world one post at a time.
